The Master Socialist Plan

First of all, refresh your memory and read this.

It's really becoming quite clear. The socialization of our country has started. If you read the above post, and read the link that was provided, you should be drawing some conclusions by now. But, let me lay them out.

It started with the "economic crisis". All along Obama said that doing nothing wasn't an option. That doing nothing would certainly plunge us in to another depression. Of course, we know now he was wrong.

But, it made for good politics. Plus, it started the "collar and leash" tactic of the progressives. Everything done with a purpose. In the case of the stimulus, it accomplished two things. One, political payback for supporters. One has to simply look at where the money went to draw the obvious conclusion. Two, grow the voter base. Virtually all of the money went to expand or support government. Sure, there were jobs created. Not many. But, they were all in the public sector. The trillion dollar stimulus had virtually no effect on the economy or unemployment. But, by expanding government, it added to the voter base. In fact, there was no real concern about the private sector. Everyone knows that Obama could have taken another approach and really targeted the private sector with stimulus funds. But, he chose not to. On purpose.

Starting to see the bigger picture?

The private sector is where republicans live. Business owners are more about tax incentives, interest, and market forces. Nothing in the stimulus addressed anything of worth for private business.

Now look at the bail outs. GM . . . unions. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac . . . government controlled. Other bailouts turned in to take overs of another sort in that following the action limits were put on pay and bonuses. Leash and collar.

In the mean time, the economy continued to suffer and unemployment climbed to 10%. For the socialists, this was good news. It simply meant an opportunity to leash and collar more people. Make them dependent on government. Make them democratic voters.

Also, the war was being completely ignored. While not directly related to the leash and collar tactic, successes in Afghanistan would be a distraction . . . and would provide the previous President with some credit. Couldn't have that. As long as hundreds of soldiers weren't dying the war could be ignored for a bit.

At this point, Obama could have focused his attention to the real issue of the economy and jobs. After all, create jobs and the economy improves and people get the healthcare they need through that job. Hopefully, of course. Even if not, much better to have a job than not.

Except, Obama went after healthcare. This, again, was by design. Target those without jobs and those without insurance. . . promise them they'll never have to worry about getting proper healthcare . . . and you've got democratic voters. Leash and collar. This was so important that the socialists took a rather large political gamble. Most of the country was against the type of reform Omarxist was talking about. But, they pushed it through anyway.

I do think the progressives were caught off guard by the huge backlash initially. They weren't ready or armed for such a response at the time. And, word has it, of all the people you might be able to blame for the slow reaction to the backlash is Rahm Emmanuel. Mr. Rahm it through actually wanted the administration to slow down on the issue. I also think they were caught a bit off guard by the Scott Brown win. Not to say they didn't have a backup plan. If anyone thinks they weren't ready to lose that democratic seat, you'd be wrong. What it did mean was that they had to do what they wound up doing . . . push the bill through using any means possible. Sure, they wanted healthcare reform. But, more than that, they wanted voters. Leash and collar.

You might be wondering about the backlash over all spending that occurred. Quite honestly, it didn't matter. One, they would make it look as though Omarxistcare was deficit neutral, that it would bring down the deficit. That's all a bunch of bunk, of course. But, they'd have the CBO release a report substantiating their claim. Between that and other accounting slight of hand, they'd sell it to the public as being deficit friendly. Again, it didn't matter it was a lie. Voters.

At this point, the marxists also passed a jobs bill. It's a joke. But, with the tea parties as geared up as they were . . . and are . . . they needed to do something to show the sheep they cared. The jobs bill is one, a piss in the ocean in terms of cost. And two, does virtually nothing. The tax breaks really only benefist those businesses who are in a position of making new hires anyway. Businesses don't hire simply because of a tax break. They hire because business warrants it.

Now, getting back to the political gamble. At this point, now that the legislation passed, the marxists are exhibiting confidence. Again, you might think this strange with all the opposition. Again you'd be wrong. That's why immigration is next. Not cap and tax. Not a better jobs bill. Not real education reform (what they passed is simply support for the status quo. No significant change). Not the war. Immigration reform. Here they will target all the illegals already here and clear a path for them not only to become citizens, but get on omarxistcare as well. Leash and collar. Millions more voters for the progressives. The marxists will likely move swiftly on immigration. They want those people available this November to vote.

That's why they're feeling confident. They've kept the economy from any real recovery. They've bought or paid off democratic voters. They've increased the public sector thereby increased democratic voters. They passed a bill that they can now sell to the unemployed and soon to be legal immigrants, thereby, again, adding democratic voters. And will soon start the campaign that the republicans are evil. That they opposed this wonderful legislation that provides healthcare to those that need it most.

As I write this, the strategy of painting the tea party protesters as violent has already started.

But, will it work? I don't know. The dems have a long history of out playing the republicans at this kind of game. The one hope is that omarxistcare begins to noticeably fail, and that the tea party protesters continue the fight.

This is a carefully orchestrated plan by marxists of socializing this country. It began with a manufactured crisis. We will go from being a republic to being a democracy. And with that, will for a long, long, long, time empower government. The main reason the constitution was written.

Strangely enough . . . and maybe not . . . the one person, I think, who seems to get it?

Sarah Palin. That's why they hate her so much. She's absolutely right.

The Nobel Peace token

That's about the extent of it. I think everyone agrees Obama didn't do anything to deserve the recognition. Kinda like Julia Roberts receiving an award for acting. You're like . . . what?

Still, in the grand scheme of things, who cares? Jay Weber was making a bit if a deal about this on his show this morning. Claiming that those Republicans who quietly congratulate Obama are the same ones we should vote out of office. That may be, but he went on about the weakness of the party when there's something to pounce on. I don't know. Pick your battles. I do think the party risks being too whiney if at every little turn they complain about something. I'd like to think we're (conservatives) are above acting like liberals in that regard. There are more important issues at hand.

It's gonna make a funny (that'll be a first) SNL skit.

Wanda Sykes

I like humor. Any regular reader knows that. I use humor a lot. Mostly in a self deprecating fashion, and mostly dry, but humor none the less. I don't expect everyone to like my brand of humor, nor do I expect everyone to "get it". But, I try to be witty on a universal level.

Along those lines, I don't mind anyone taking a shot at someone else for the sake of a laugh. There are many good Bush jokes. There are many good indian jokes. Again, I think the ability to laugh at one's self is essential.

But, I have two rules. One, jokes have to be funny. Two, while I don't mind shocking (dead baby jokes come to mind) there is a line. Bill Maher wearing a t shirt with a bloody heart that's been stabbed after the death of Steve Irwin was just tasteless. Not surprising, but tasteless.

So it is with Wanda Sykes. Her joke about wanting Limbaugh's kidneys to fail just wasn't funny. Now, dogging on people you don't like is often kind of amusing, I admit. But there are two issues about this that bother me. First, the reference to 9-11 in the joke. Tasteless. Second, the President shown laughing his fool head off. Is this guy that clueless?

It's one thing for Sykes to make retarded comments about Rush being a terrorist and wanting his kidneys to fail. It doesn't surprise me. And, I know it's a joke. Or, it was supposed to be. The fact that Sykes doesn't seem to have much of a career as a comedienne might say something about her comedic intellect. But, I digress.

The other thing that bothers me is the President laughing about references to 9-11 . . . and not so funny jokes. I could care less if he laughs at or about Rush. Though, he probably shouldn't be laughing at desires to wish him dead. I don't know. Maybe it's me. Holding the PRESIDENT to some kind of standard went out of style with Clinton.

No reason to expect anything new from Mr. Change.

Little Johnny Bad Boy

Little Johnny was in most respects, a normal three year old little boy. But, he tended to get in to a lot of trouble. His parents called him rambunctious. Others weren't so kind.

One morning, little Johnny wanted to have some fun. During breakfast he threw food at his brother and sister, and poured his milk on the floor. While his mother cleaned up the mess he made, his father said "Johnny. You shouldn't do that. " and told him to be nice to his brother and sister. Johnny laughed and went to watch TV.

After breakfast was finished, and the mess cleaned up, the family joined little Johnny in the family room to watch TV. Johnny was already watching cartoons and was annoyed at the suggestion he would have to stop watching his shows because everyone else wanted to watch a movie. Johnny started crying and screaming when his father took the remote and changed the channel. Johnny tried to take the remote away from his father. But, at three years old, he wasn't big enough or strong enough to accomplish such a task.

"Johnny, please behave." his father said.

"Come sit down and watch the movie with us." his mother added.

The other siblings complained that it was too difficult to watch a movie with Johnny screaming so and wanted him out of the room (they would have liked him out of the house). But, mom and dad continued to try and console Johnny.

Suddenly, little Johnny started hitting the TV.

"Johnny, you shouldn't do that." father said.

Johnny ignored the suggestion and started pushing on the TV.

"Johnny, don't do that." mother said. "You will be punished if you continue."

Johnny has heard this threat before and nothing ever happened. So, he continued to push on the TV causing it to rock. Johnny wasn't strong enough to simply push the TV over. But with continued effort he could get the momentum of the TV to cause it to fall.

"Johnny, if that TV falls over I will be very mad." Johnny's father said.

"Johnny, please don't do that." Johnny's mother said.

Again ignoring his parent's request, Johnny continued to push on the TV until finally, with a loud crash, it fell to the ground.

Stunned, everyone fell quiet. A few pops were heard as the last sparks of life were emitted from the wreckage.

As there was no longer an TV to watch, the two other siblings left the room leaving their parents with Johnny.

"That was very naughty, Johnny." father said.

"We're very disappointed" mother said. "you will need to be punished."

Johnny stood quiet for a moment, then laughed and ran in to the other room.

So, what does Obama do now?

Obamaquette

C'mon! You can't tell me that if this were Bush giving the Queen an iPod, bowing to the King, Laura hugging the Queen, and Cheney saying the retarded things Biden is saying, that he wouldn't be skewered by the press. He would. But, since it's Obamination, and a leftcist, it OK to look like a buffoon to the entire world.

Obama will improve our image, alright. We're going to become the laughing stock.

Maybe Obarassed got his cues from Russell Brand.

Obama's iPod to the Queen

An iPod. Obama gave the Queen an iPod. Probably gave her a 120v charger for it, too.

It's been leaked that of the things on the iPod, was the scrolling text from his teleprompter telling him what to say when he met her.

That must of been embarrassing.

A New Number

There's no name for one trillion to the tenth power. Just an equation type thingy, 1.0 × 10ˆ120. I'd like to propose, Obamaplex. One trillion to the tenth power. A tribute to the debt of trillions he will leaves us for the next ten years . . . optimistically.

Pork. The other properly done, not last minute, imperfect white meat.

My head is spinning.

First Obama said earmarks weren't earmarks if they weren't last minute.

Then he said that earmarks properly done are . . . OK, I guess.

Lastly, apparently all he has to say is "this isn't perfect" and, again, everything is OK.

Well, as the Geico caveman said . . .

What?

I'm not even going to mention the private signing.

Obama and the manufactured crisis

I stated in an earlier blog that I wondered if Obama would get away with things George Bush couldn't. Or, didn't. Glen Beck made an excellent point of this on a recent show. He read several headlines in which he replaced Obama's name with Bush'. I'm doing this from memory, but they went something like this:

Bush administration takes control of census.

Bush orders millions for overseas abortion

Bush increases troop level in Afghanistan with no debate or timetable.

Bush budget triples debt.

You get the idea. There's no question he'd be crucified. In fact, it this out of control, non debate spending that got many republicans booted from office, and may have well cost McCain the election. It's astonishing to watch. Yet, many seem to be OK with this. Especially on the left. Why? Because it's Obama.

Bush' tax cuts were constantly railed on as "tax cuts for the rich". Yet, Obama is providing what can only be called welfare for banks, the auto industry, and mortgage companies. Again, this seems to be OK.

As a six year old would respond though . . . why?

One of the issues the left had with Bush is that he used terrorism to his advantage to pass the Patriot Act. Many felt that Bush was completely out of control violating portions of the Constitution that protect civil liberties and personal and property rights. That he used scare tactics so as to allow himself to declare war, kill innocents, torture, imprison, and spy and wiretap at his own discretion. All outside the boundaries of law and civil liberties. Of course, the conspiracy nuts claim Bush orchestrated the whole 911 event. All so he could declare war, go after oil, secure contracts for Haliburton, and spy on everyone.

Huh. But, I thought he was the dumbest President ever. Which one is it? More than that, though, what was his gain? It will be interesting to see if Obama reverses any of THOSE practices.

Anyway. Now we come to Obama and the economic "crisis". Now, I don't mean to minimalize the economic situation. However you think we got to where we are . . . we're here. I think the question is, though, how bad is it that we need to take such enormous steps, and so quickly, to try and fix it?

I'll admit. I'm a market guy. I think much of our mess is due to simply not letting market forces work they way they should naturally. When government subsidizes, regulates, and over taxes certain market sectors, natural market becomes unbalanced and problems occur. The auto industry is a good example. We cannot continue to pour money in to a failing business model. That makes no sense. Rail is another. If it cannot self sustain, if no one uses it, why bother?

So, what do we really need to do to turn the economy around? Well, there's a huge difference of opinion there. For people who like to remind us of the Clinton years, I would remind them that his policy also included tax cuts. That it wasn't just spending. Besides, republicans had control of Congress and nothing too extreme was likely to be allowed.

Remember Emmanuel's comment? "Never let a serious crisis go to waste"? Enter Cloward and Piven. If the left can be as moronic as to suggest Bush orchestrated the 911 attacks, then I'm here to say Obama, Emmanuel, and others, are using, hyping the economic situation for their own gain. For a very interesting read, go here.

More than interesting, it's scary. Particularly when you look at Obama's past and his associations and how things lead up to today.

The problem, too, is that people are buying into Obama's solution. How many times have we heard that Obama is going to "buy me that house" or car, or get that job?

This is a dangerous time we're in.

Obama's Press Conference

Yes, he's a better speaker than was Bush. Much better than Hillary or McCain would have been. No question. But, there were some interesting things about his delivery and his message.

First, he never looked at the camera. I know a bunch of reporters were right there in front of him. But, he could have included the camera as one of his stopping points through his rotation. I found it a little off putting.

As far as his message goes, I'll admit, there are some smartly types that agree with Obama and his plan. Some who say we're not doing enough spending. But, make no mistake, there are many others who disagree with Obama. Again, smartly types. A bunch took out an ad in the NY Times saying as much.

Of all the articles I've read, one that seems to make the most sense, is the supposed need for a quick, comprehensive package to deal with our current situation. Instead, separate the spending plan from the tax cut plan. Debate them on their own merits. In spite of Obama's insistence of a quick passage, much of his plan won't go in to effect until 2010 to 2012. What's another week, or more, to really work this out?

Fact is, there is no easier, faster way to to get money in to the people's hands and stimulate the economy than through tax cuts. Yes, there are those who disagree and site examples. Problem with the examples I'm sure that will be cited is that spending also grew. This was Reagan's mistake, Bush's mistake, and is about to become Obama's mistake. If you look at those States that cut taxes and balanced their budgets, those States did or are doing very well. Make no mistake, Obama is increasing spending . . . a lot. Some have said he's doing essentially the same thing Bush did with his policies . . . and that they won't work. Now, spending that creates jobs is different from spending that's simply pork. There's a return on the former. But, I've heard that the return on each job created would have to be around $100,000 to pay back the cost of the spending. That's if it generates the best case possible creation of jobs. Even then, that's a lot of money for an individual to pay back.

When asked about Afghanistan, Obama sounded like . . . well, a lot like Bush. He said it was a challenging situation, and wouldn't commit to any timelines. Huh. Funny how one's perspective changes when you go from observer to being in charge.

Anyway, his delivery certainly didn't suck. But his message . . . well . . . when you have the likes of an idiot like Pelosi drafting trillion dollar packages in a week's time and trying to tell us that it's been "carefully crafted" I'll let you be the judge.

I'm not too hopeful.

Obama visits press. They ask questions.

Uh . . . what did he think would happen?

WASHINGTON -- President Obama paid a surprise visit to members of the White House press corps Thursday evening when he walked through their working area of the West Wing, but he quickly became agitated when he was confronted with a question by one of the journalists.

According to reports, when the Politico's Jonathan Martin asked the president about his nominee for deputy secretary of defense, William Lynn, Obama refused to answer, saying he was not there to take questions.

"I came down here to visit. I didn't come down here -- this is what happens. I can't end up visiting you guys and shaking hands if I am going to grilled every time I come down here," the president said.

Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter's shoulder and staring him in the eye.

"All right, come on," he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. "We will be having a press conference, at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys -- that's all I was trying to do," Politico.com reported.

Obama is going to get a rep for being a jerk pretty soon, if you ask me.

I know you are but what am I?

Seriously, is "we won" going to be the standard response from Obama to every republican debate?

Also, this notion that "people resoundingly voted for change" is a bit . . . um off. I'm reminded of the political cartoon, Bush Wins 51% Country Divided / Obama Wins 52% Country United. An electoral landslide, yes. A resounding popular vote victory? Hardly.

Toss in the fact that Obamnut has back tracked or completely changed his mind about many a campaign promise, including petty politics and such, and he's becoming a bit of a joke.

Finally, for a guy who voted "present" much of the time as a Senator, he sure does expect quite the opposite behavior now that he's in charge.

Not good. I don't think he'll do himself or the democratic party any favors with this kind of behavior.

Obama can kiss my . . . . !

Last night when I got home from work, it was late, so I spent some time with my daughter before tucking her in. When I was done I came out to the living room to spend time with da wife. I noticed Obama was on the cover of Entertainment Magazine, for some reason, and it was lying on the chair. I promptly sat down on it. My wife noticed and said: "You know you're sitting on my magazine." To which I replied:

"Obama's kissing my butt."

It's the little things.

Liberal Politics and Idealism

A few things that caught my attention today.

Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., says he'd be willing to house prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in his congressional district if President Obama makes good on a plan to close the U.S. prison there.

As one of his first acts in office, the president circulated a draft Wednesday that would shut down Guantanamo Bay within a year.

Murtha only has a minimum security prison in his district. But he says he'd have no reservations about holding detainees there in a maximum security prison.

"Sure, I'd take 'em," said Murtha, an outspoken critic of the Iraq war. "They're no more dangerous in my district than in Guantanamo."

Done deal, as far as I'm concerned. You folks voted for him. Now reap the benefits.

Beck had a good idea, though. Put the prisoners in Alcatraz . . . in Pelosi's district. Problem solved! Two ideal places to put the TERRORISTS.

The Senate Finance Committee voted 18 to 5 to approve Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary, despite a second day of tough comments by several Republican members. All five Senators voting "No" were Republicans.

I'd like for any lib to defend this choice. In any way what so ever. Could there be a more incompetent and untrustworthy person for this position. If this were turned around, that is, if these were republicans doing this, they'd be skewered. Roasted over an open pit. Eaten. And shit out on the President's shoes. Amazing.

In a stunning revelation, a source close to Gov. David Paterson insisted this afternoon that the governor "had no intention" of picking Caroline Kennedy for New York's vacant senate seat - because she was "mired" in an issue over taxes, her nanny and possibly her marriage.

My guess is that this is the last we'll hear about Caroline's "issues".

Pelosi said one of her favorite moments from Inauguration Day was when Marine One lifted off the Capitol grounds, signifying former President George W. Bush's exit from Washington. "It felt like a 10-pound anvil was lifted off my head," she said.

Seeing how ineffective she's been the past two years, I'm not surprised. I'm sure she's looking forward to her job being much easier with a rubber stamp awaiting her every whim.

Said by Larry King during an interview.

"My younger son Cannon, he is eight. And he now says that he would like to be black. I'm not kidding. He said there's a lot of advantages. Black is in. Is this a turning of the tide?"

This is ridiculous beyond imagination.

U.S. President Barack Obama may order a hold on a proposal issued in the final days of the Bush administration to expand offshore drilling in previously banned areas, an Interior Department official told Reuters on Wednesday.

Nothing has happened, yet. But, does this surprise anyone? We, on the right, knew he was flat out lying when he said he'd consider it.

It's going to be a loooooong four years.

Final thoughts about the election

I glossed over this in a comment, but I do think it's incredible that an african american worked his way all the way to the Whitehouse. It's a testiment of what America is all about. Education, desire, work, and dedication. Obama wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He worked. He strived. He accomplished. Hopefully his story will be one of inspiration and example to many young people.

But to think that his victory is some how racially healing is over reaching. Crime won't go down in the inner city. Truancy won't suddenly reduce. Rap lyrics won't suddenly become positive in its message.

I'd like to think Obama will inspire some to understand that to get ahead in this country means to stay in school, make good decisions, and apply yourself. Not to think that the government will provide for you. Pheisty had an excellent post about the speakers at the Democratic convention and that none of them mentioned the great government programs that helped them get ahead. No. They all spoke of dreams and hard work.

Unquestionably, having an african american as president looks good to the rest of the world. America has suddenly become progressive. As far as that goes, I don't care. Question is, will Obama command respect from other country's leaders?

As for McCain, we should remember he wasn't that far off from Obama on many issues. If McCain had won, we would have had a republican president and a democratic congress. I do think the country would have become stagnant. McCain lost, and Hillary lost, in some part because many were done with Clinton and Bush.

Speaking of Hillary, I'll also give Obama kudos for winning the nod over her. Many felt she was a shoo in. The heir to the throne. Going up against and defeating the Clinton machine was quit an accomplishment.

Anyway, as I also mentioned in a post, I was shocked to see McCain constantly winning primaries. I liked MCain as an Arizona senator, but not as presidential candidate. Of the bunch, I liked Huckabee. Romney was too plastic, Gulianni was too centrist, and Thompson was too boring. My support for McCain was simply a resignation of the nominee.

Then came Sarah. A conservative. A babe. Me likee. After all that has happened, I still think Sarah was a smart choice. She energized the base to a point where she was drawing bigger crowds than McCain himself. She threw the left and the press in to full panic mode. The attacks were immediate. No surprise. But the initial attacks were a bunch of lies. Even now, after the election, the lies continue. Fallout in the ranks? No one knows for sure. Each story is being debunked. For all we know, the leak isn't from within.

If there were any surprises on election night, it came from conservative wins. Too few, to be sure, but some solace to the party.

As for the party, I think they're finally getting the message. Less government. More local power. Individual liberty. Less spending. Lower taxes. Free market. Don't be afraid of these values. Embrace them. Campaign on them.

What am I afraid of? National security. Foreign policy. Environmental regulations. Liberal judges. To a degree, we can be thankful our economy is down as it severely limits what the new administration can do as far as raising taxes or increasing spending is concerned. That's an incredibly dopey thing to say, I know. Many would prefer the economy to be flourishing. But, that would be a sure path to spending nirvana.

It appears Obama might be fiscally central. This may not bode well with Pelosi and the rest of Jurassic park. But, I'm actually somewhat confident the economy will turn around.

With all this said, I'm ready to move on and embrace our new president. I'll be watchful. I'll be critical. But, I'll be fair. I've given nods to both Dole and Barrett when I thought they've deserved it. I can do the same for Obama.

Locally, I'm not so optimistic.

Whaddaya mean, not the Messiah?!

Anticipation was high, and now so is expectation. So much so, face-lifted Pelosi has to issue statements telling everyone that "change" may come slowly. And that people should be patient. Of the expectations . . .

Alderman in Chicago are expecting cash. Money for their districts.

Supporters and money raisers in Pennsylvania are waiting to see how they will benefit. Posibly as part of his administration.

African communities believe they will prosper as a result of Barack becoming President.

Even on an individual level, many believe Obama will help them prosper.

MoveOn.org, and other far left demoncrats, will surely pressure Pelosi to pressure Obama to govern in a manner they see fit.

All the while, moderate democrats and republicans and others with brains will do what they can to buffer any bold moves.

The Whole World's Watching, Obama.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Ain't gonna play nice

Fact is, what ever shit happens locally and nationally, will affect me. So, there's a large part of me that desires things go well for the country and the state. We're all in this together, so to speak, and we should all hope the same. It's in our best interest.

The problem with that, though, is those who represent us aren't acting in our best interest. Politics has become a platform for special interest, minority groups, and self importance. I'm all too willing to go along with the majority, but only if we're all given a fair chance. We're not. I have two issues with this election.

One. It was bought. Forget about everything else . . . and there's a lot . . . Obama bought this election. 600 million? That's gross. It's beyond excessive. One could argue, why not? If people are supportive of a candidate and donate more money, what's the issue? Principal, for one. It means elections can be bought by the more powerful special interest groups. Elections shouldn't be about the rich getting their candidate elected every time. Elections should be about the people deciding, not special interests.

Two. The press helped Obama win. McCain never had a chance with the press.

No question, McCain's campaign wasn't strong. Parts of it stunk. Plus, he wasn't the ideal Republican candidate. In fact, it still amazes me he received the nomination over the other Republicans. So, take the two issues I have with this election out of it and I still think Obama would have won. The "Change" platform served Billy Clinton well. Stands to reason it would work again. Particularly with an unpopular president. Of course, no really knew what the change was. There was a scant record to go on, when he did decide to show up an vote. How the change platform came about is anyone's guess as Obama was more about the status quo in his districts than he was about change. What did it mean? Mostly that he wasn't Bush. But, now that he's president, what does it mean? What is this change?

Here's the thing. Ok, he won. Great. First black president. Kudos. Really. I have to be honest, I care little that he's black and more that he has crazy ideas. Actually, that Pelosi and her ilk have crazy ideas that Obama will simply rubber stamp.

But, let's see what this "change" is. He's made some way out there sort of campaign promises. Let's see what happens.

But, be nice? Forget it. As a Republican I put up with the vile, hate, ridicule, directed toward GW Bush and some in his administration. Even Dennis Miller said we need to stop the hate, Fuck that. Let's see how much fun it will be to be continually lobbing the ridicule, the condemnation, the he's an idiot barbs and comments Obamas way. Let's see how he handles it, and let see how the bloggers handle it.

Point is . . . he's under a microscope now. Everything he says, and does is out there for fair review and critique. And it will be. As will be the other members of congress. We can start with what he's promised and what he'll eventually deliver on.

So, have at it Obama. The whole world is watching. Particularly me. And I ain't gonna be nice about it.

McCain vs Obama 3

McCain got the holeshot right off. But, at 289mph, he blew a head gasket. But, but, managed to coast to the finish.

I know there was all sorts of pressure on McCain to make a case out of NObama's past relationships. Perhaps what everyone didn't think of is that Nobama is as slippery as Bill Clinton. I didn't think it was going to work as I'm sure NObama was not only ready for it but also it gave him a chance to simply lie, partially or otherwise, stay calm and dismiss the issue.

What I liked about McCain . . .

He called in to question NObama's integrity about his campaign and spending.

The remark about not running against Bush. Finally.

Joe the plumber and spreading the wealth. Brilliant.

Generally . . .

McCain did a good job of calling out Obama's record on spending and taxes.

I thought John did a good job with energy. He stated that Obama said he would "look at" domestic drilling. I thought that was a great point.

I thought John did a good job with education. Though, some of this is simply what one wants to hear. John is right when he says you can't fund everything. But, that may not play well with many.

The abortion issue, which was actually a judge issue, was a toss up. Where ever you stand on this issue, that's where you went. The one thing John said that made sense to me, let it be a State issue, not a Federal issue.

I thought Obama took the healthcare issue. Not because I agree with him, but because it sounded better and was more specifically laid out. John spent a little too much time tying to debunk Obama's plan than hyping his own. It didn't work well.

The biggest thing is that McCain did a good job of reminding people that democrats are taxers and spenders. That could help him these last couple of weeks. Now that the ground work has been laid, McCain should pound Obama on his spending and tax plan. Forget everything else . . . almost. But, hit taxes hard.

As Brian Fraley said, it's not over.
Who won? Don't care. It didn't change anyone's mind. So, if you believe the polls, Obama still has a narrow lead. However, Dick Morris made a good point. There's the immediate reaction, and what one can build on from this. He pointed out what I stated before, that the ground work of tax and spend has been laid, and that there could be gains to be made.
